THIBELLA BRANCH VISITED MALIBUSENG ORPHANAGE

 By Khotso Lebona

Maseru Red Cross Division strongest youth branch,  Thibella branch visited Malibuseng Children’s Home at Maseru East this year to wash their clothes and play various games with them. The rooms, windows and the surroundings were cleaned and gardens planted and watered as well.

Thibella branch committee member Mr. Moitheri Raphiri said they chose the place in accordance with LRCS motto “we serve the nation” (Re thusa sechaba) and the seven fundamental principles of RCRC movement.

“This orphanage is one of the most vulnerable in the country which is not sponsored or assisted by any one so we thought of sharing the little we have with them since we help the community.” Said Raphiri.

Miss Thandiwe Mochepe who joined the orphanage in 2007 said she is happy to be part of this extended family because at least there is shelter and food for them which are the basic needs of life. She thanked Red Cross youth for being there for them and pleaded with them to visit them more often because their presence to their home means a lot to them and encouraged to feel loved by the community.

Meanwhile Mr. Tseliso Rats’olo, the founding father of this orphanage stated that the family was founded in 1983 by his wife Mrs. Malibuseng  Rats’olo and registered in 2007, he said the purpose of the orphanage is to improve the quality of care for abandoned children and those orphaned by HIV/AIDS,  to also facilitate spiritual teaching and to instil self-confidence and self-respect.

“Among all the orphanages in the country this is the most disadvantaged because no one thinks of it, at least today Red Cross has remembered us and spent their time with us and we are indeed grateful for what they have done for us today. Please do visit us more often and assist these children with trainings if you can.’’ He added.

This orphanage started with only five children but as time went by more children were received leading to today’s 23 children in total. It is located at Liteneng Maseru East Maseru Lesotho. The event was blessed by the presence of the National Youth Executive Committee member Ms. Mabulara Motlomelo who urged Thibella youth to do their best to improve lives of other youth especially the OVCs. She advised the children to love and serve one another and to respect their elders. Finally she asked them to join other registered organizations like Red Cross to improve their knowledge in life.
